Examination centres

An Institution can be an Examination Centre of ECBSES if it meets the eligibility criteria as specified in Regional Certification Guidelines.

The role of the Examination Institution is to

  • Work with the ECBSES and other in-country partners to organize the certification examination,
  • Receive certification applications including the fee, when necessary,
  • Participate in the Application and Examination Sub-Committee for review the eligibility of the candidates.
  • Inform the applicant if s/he is eligible or ineligible within two weeks in accordance with the scheme eligibility requirements,
  • Prepare and share a list of all candidates including those that did not submit application to ECBSES through its online application platform at least four weeks before the regional certification examination,
  • Prepare the venue at least three (3) days before the certification examination is conducted,
  • Conduct the examination (written, practical and oral if necessary) in accordance with the requirements specified in the document: “Procedure for Conducting Examination for the Regional Certification Programme”.
  • Prepare appropriate reports, data, and records to demonstrate that the examination results meet the established requirements.
  • Requirements to be an Examination Centre and Procedures
  • The requirements below ensure that the ECBSES examination procedures are complete, and no conflict of interest occurs at any level.
  • The ECBSES will select at least one examination Centre in each ECOWAS member state. 
  • An institution or centre to be appointed as Examination Centre shall meet the following criteria:
  • Be a legal entity in the country in which it is operating,
  • Be reputable and solvent financially,
  • Have at least one trainer experienced in teaching courses covering the contents of the JTA,
  • Have at least one experienced assessor in written examinations, practical assessments and also oral assessments,
  • Have sufficient equipment or partner with another institution that has sufficient equipment to undertake the practical assessments concurrently. (the required equipment is listed in the separate document: “Procedure for Conducting Examination for the Regional Certification Programme”),
  • Where applicable, the equipment shall be verified or calibrated under the supervision of ECBSES.
  • Be prepared to be audited and sign the agreement with the ECBSES,
  • The dedicated staff of the Examination Centres shall sign a confidentiality agreement and the commitment that the institution is prepared to work with the ECBSES as an Examination Centre and conduct the examination as per the fee selected by the ECBSES.

Training Centres

A Training Centres fills out an application form (see Certification Directive Annexes) and submits it to the ECBSES with all relevant supporting documents including a receipt confirming the payment of the application fee. 

The Relevant documents that must be submitted include : 

  • Copy of the curriculum (one for each relevant course/training module), 
  • A complete checklist (see Certification Directive Annexes) mapping the curriculum to the Job Task Analysis (one for each relevant course/training module), 
  • Curriculum Vitae of the trainers, 
  • List of equipment available for conducting practical training,
  • Form(s) with information about the courses given during the last two years. 
  • Others relevant information. 

ECREEE should visit the training center if necessary, before signing an MoU to ensure the center's capacity to organize training. 

The ECBSES shall have the documentation reviewed and if satisfactory the TC will be listed on the ECBSES website.
