First Solar PV Installer Certification Exam in Sierra Leone
The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Ministry of Energy and the Freetown Polytechnic, funded by GIZ and REASL, are poised to conduct the first certification exam for off-grid solar PV technicians (level 1) in Sierra Leone. This regional certification launched to improve the quality in solar photovoltaic equipment installations, while raising quality standards and end-user satisfaction. Among other benefits, certified technicians can benefit from professional mobility throughout the ECOWAS region.
Professionals (electricians and electromechanics, power engineers, etc.) and electricians with at least 2 years’ of experience, are eligible for certification, which includes both theoretical and practical exams. The certification exam will take place from 4 – 8 November at Kissy Campus in Freetown Polytechnic, Sierra Leone.

For candidates wishing to prepare for the exam, the Njala University training centre in Sierra Leone, will be organizing refresher training courses.
