Energy Minister of Cabo Verde presides over certificate award ceremony

Praia, October 22, 2024 – As part of ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Skills Certification Program, the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), as a certification body, in collaboration with the Institute for Quality Management and Intellectual Property (IGQPI) and the Centre for Renewable Energy and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI), held the 1st exam for the regional certification of off-grid solar photovoltaic system technicians-level I, from October 17 to 19.

During the certificate award ceremony the October 22, which was attended by the ECREEE Executive Director, Francis SEMPORE, the Chairman of Bord of Directors of IGQPI, Ana Paula Spencer and the PCA of CERMI, Gilson Correia, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy, Alexandre Monteiro, congratulated the trainees on completing this stage, which provides them with a certificate with regional validity, which brings benefits to both the professional and the sector, allowing them, among other advantages, to have the possibility of professional mobility to other ECOWAS countries. The minister also pointed out that the benefits extend to companies, in that they will be able to become more competitive and expand their business, thus having an economic impact.

This certification is part of the ECREEE’s efforts in the ECOWAS region to mobilize a competent and qualified workforce, to increase confidence in renewable energies and energy efficiency among potential investors and to promote solar photovoltaic installations that meet high international quality standards.
